The Department of Surgery at Connecticut Children's Medical Center
The Ferrari Club of America – New England Region is a vital partner with the Department of Surgery at Connecticut Children’s. In 2009, proceeds from Concorso Ferrari will help raise funds for a new Cardiovascular Operating Suite that brings together state-of-the-art imaging technology for the most accurate images of the inside of a child’s heart.
The Suite will feature an OR1 system that offers the very latest in minimally invasive multiple surgical capabilities. It will be available to all specially-trained surgical teams at Connecticut Children’s allowing a full range of pediatric surgical subspecialties to provide innovative technologies to thousands of children each year.
In addition to the range of procedures for which it can be used, the system will have a very positive impact on the patient and family experience. The system maximizes procedural efficiency, meaning patients and their families will experience shorter times in the operating room. It will also result in an expanded capacity to perform more surgeries in a given day, leading to shorter wait times from the time it is decided a surgery is needed to the actual procedure.
