The event is both fun and educational and provides an opportunity for children and families to reconnect with their caregivers and friends. We welcome your participation in this day of sharing, hope and encouragement.

We hope that you are able to support us in our efforts by contributing to the event through a corporate sponsorship.  Your partnership in creating fond memories for these very special children is greatly appreciated.

WHY YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED

The past year at Connecticut Children's:

  • 70 children were newly diagnosed with cancer
  • About 100 patients are receiving treatment for cancer
  • Our youngest oncology patient is 5 months old
  • There are about 750 survivors who are in remission
  • 110 active clinical trials
  • We rank in the top 5 percent worldwide for number of open clinical trials

Nationally:

  • One in 330 children will develop cancer by age 19
  • Current Pediatric Cancer Survivorship rate is 82% as compared to 58% in 1975

REACH for the STARS Survivorship Program

The REACH for the STARS Survivorship Program (REACH: Research, Education, Advocacy, Continued life and Health; STARS: Survivors Tackling All Roadblocks Successfully) at Connecticut Children’s provides guidance and ongoing support to pediatric cancer survivors in an effort to help them improve and maintain a high quality and successful life. The program provides patients with comprehensive summaries of all treatments they received, individualized surveillance for late effects of treatment, access to wellness information, educational outreach events, college scholarships and additional resources on survivorship.

In February of 2009 the program became a member of the Connecticut Challenge Survivorship Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing greater services and resources to Connecticut’s 120,000 cancer survivors.
