2012 Storybook Gala Recap

Thanks to the generosity of hundreds of donors, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center's 20th Anniversary Friends Storybook Gala was a great success. The event, which took place Oct. 27th at the Connecticut Convention Center, drew 750 attendees and raised $675,000 for the Medical Center. The annual event celebrated the hundreds of thousands of children and families who are cared for each year at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

"Connecticut Children's is fortunate to have a strong partnership with the Medical Center Friends," said Martha Schall, President of Connecticut Children's Foundation. "We greatly appreciate their unwavering dedication and limitless energy and their extraordinary contributions to the Medical Center through the Gala over the past 20 years."

Renowned author, Carl Hiaasen, was the featured guest. WFSB-Channel 3 news anchors Kara Sundlun and Dennis House served as emcees and Jeff Bodeau served as auctioneer for the event which included a cocktail reception, dinner, dancing to the sounds of ATLAS, and live and silent auctions.

This year's Bid4Kidz spotlight program at the Gala benefitted the enhanced Critical Care Transport Team set to launch in January, which will offer highly-specialized transports of neonatal and pediatric patients to and from the Medical Center, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

"Our ability to give the children and families in our state the care they deserve is dependent on the support of many," said Debra and Glen Greenberg, Honorary Event Chairs. "Connecticut Children's is grateful the community recognizes, through their participation in the Storybook Gala, what a tremendous asset the Medical Center is."
