CUMBERLAND FARMS LAUNCHES 6TH ANNUAL CUPS FOR KIDS CAMPAIGN TO RAISE FUNDS FOR PEDIATRIC CARE PROGRAMS

On August 1, 2017, leading convenience, gasoline, and coffee retailer Cumberland Farms kicks-off its 6th annual Cups for Kids campaign, a month-long fundraiser that will benefit pediatric care programs at five children’s hospitals throughout the Northeast – including Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut. During the entire month of August, five cents from every Chill Zone beverage including HYPERFREEZE™ beverages purchased at specified retail locations will go directly to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. To kick-off the campaign, Cumberland Farms hosted an event last week at the Museum of Science in Boston, where patients and families from each hospital enjoyed the day exploring the museum before taking an iconic Boston Duck Boat Tour throughout the city.

“We are so excited to kick-off another Cups for Kids campaign,” said Ari Haseotes, CEO of Cumberland Farms. “This initiative is a way for us to give back to the communities we serve and support the local hospitals that continue to help our children live healthy, happy lives. In just five years, we have donated over $520,000 to our children’s hospital partners, and we encourage everyone to stop by their local Cumberland Farms this August so we can continue to support our partner hospitals in the incredible work they do every day.”

In Connecticut, Cumberland Farms will again be partnering with Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, which is dedicated to improving the physical and emotional health of children through family-centered care, research, education and advocacy. Throughout the month of August, five cents from every Chill Zone beverage including HYPERFREEZE ™ beverages purchased at participating Cumberland Farms in Connecticut will go directly to the hospital. Representing all of the pediatric patients at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center throughout the Cups For Kids fundraiser is two-year-old Rylan Cosker of Unionville, Connecticut. Shortly after Rylan was born, he failed a Pulse Ox test – and was immediately transported to Connecticut Children’s, where it was determined that he not only had a hole (ventricular septal defect) in his heart, but also three other major heart defects, including a transposition of the great arteries (which means the aorta & pulmonary artery switched positions.) Rylan had to undergo a full repair of his heart, and after several days in the hospital, his parents were finally able to bring him home – where he is now a happy & growing toddler.
