For the ninth year in a row, Gabriella Giordano and her family will host an ice cream fundraiser to benefit Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Co-Hosted by Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream shop in West Hartford, Gabriella’s Annual Scoop Night will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017, from 6:00-9:00 pm outside at the stage area of Blue Back Square in West Hartford.
Gabriella Giordano, who will turn 14 years old this summer, will be celebrating her birthday by scooping ice cream and raising funds for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. A portion of each ice cream sale will be donated to the Division of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery which saved her life.
In 2008, Gabriella underwent successful open heart surgery to fix a congenital heart defect at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford. Gabriella’s Scoop Night is a way for the Giordano family to celebrate her birthday and give back to Connecticut Children’s. Gabriella is a resident of West Hartford and will be attending ninth grade at Hall High School this fall. Since its creation, Gabriella’s Scoop Night has raised approximately $40,000 for Connecticut Children’s Division of Cardiology.
“Connecticut Children’s saved my life. I want to keep raising money to help more children like me, who may have a heart condition,” says Gabriella.
The event is open to the public, and includes live music by Fatgrip, children’s activities, door prizes, and a special appearance from Valentine the Clown. Celebrity scoopers include Gabriella’s doctors and teachers, local dignitaries, WFSB Channel 3 reporters, and radio host Gina J from 96.5 TIC FM.
