Flip It Forward for Kids

Eight IHOP® Restaurants in Connecticut will join hundreds across the nation in celebrating its 14th annual IHOP Free Pancake Day—Flip It Forward for Kids event Tuesday, March 12, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Participating IHOP Restaurants will serve up a free short stack of its world-famous buttermilk pancakes for patrons while collecting donations for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, of which Connecticut Children’s is part.

Additionally, $1 from the sale of every Oreo® Oh My Goodness Pancake, the winning pancake entry created by 2019 IHOP Kid Chef Champion Brody Simoncini, will be donated to support IHOP Free Pancake Day partners, including Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Brody’s winning pancake creation is available at any participating IHOP restaurant now through April 14.

Brody, who was born with a giant omphalocele, a rare and life-threatening abdominal wall defect that caused some of his organs to be on the outside of his body, spent the first seven-and-a-half- months of his life at a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in New England, where he underwent multiple surgeries. Customers visiting participating IHOP locations on #FreePancakeDay can help even more kids battling critical illnesses, including those at Connecticut Children’s, by making a donation.

Local IHOP Restaurants participating in Free Pancake Day this year include those in Bloomfield, Hamden, Manchester, Newington, Orange, Southington, Wallingford and Waterbury. In 2018, local IHOP Restaurants raised more than $8,000 through its Free Pancake Day event. This year, staff and volunteers from Connecticut Children’s will be on hand to greet guests.

IHOP and its franchisees have a goal of raising $4 million during the campaign to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and other children’s health and wellness organizations. This year, IHOP expects to serve a record-breaking 5 million pancakes in a single day to support its charity partners.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is a network of 170 healthcare providers dedicated to treating children facing life-threatening illnesses.
