On Sunday, September 9th, the Hogs and Hops Beer Feastival will take place where some of the best chefs & breweries in Connecticut are coming together in New Haven to raise funds for the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Organized by Vie for the Kids, the day will include scrumptious selections of the finest local pork, mouthwatering sides, dessert and delectable beer samples. There will be music & games as well as a Chef’s Contest for Best Bite & Best Presentation voted on by everyone who attends. And everyone goes home with a Hogs and Hops beer glass & Vie for the Kids commitment coin.
Jason Sobocinski, well-known owner and chef of several CT eateries and co-chair for this year’s event had this to say about his involvement with Vie for the Kids since its inception in 2007. “For me, being involved with Vie for the Kids and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center over the years has been about perspective. I have so much going on in my crazy life with multiple businesses, employees, my own family with three kids and all the things a person deals with in this insanely fast paced demanding world, that I can and do get overwhelmed at times. When I see the courage, grace and determination that these kids have while facing cancer, it puts into perspective for me just how easy I truly have it. This work has been some of the most rewarding in my career and I look forward to the Hogs and Hops event and raising a lot of money, so we continue helping these truly exceptional kids.”
Since Vie for the Kids began 11 years ago, it has raised more than $1 million for the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. For more information, visit hogsandhops.org
