State Police “Stuff a Cruiser” Toy Drive @ Participating Walmart stores in East Windsor, Manchester, Newington and Rocky Hill.
Dec 14 @ 9:00 am – 9:00 pm

Schedule your holiday shopping and throw a few extra toys in the cart for the kids at Connecticut Children’s!

For 23 years, troopers from Troop H of the Connecticut State Police have been as busy as Santa’s elves carrying out their December Toy Drive.

With assistance from Ambulance Service of Manchester (ASM) and Aetna Ambulance, the troopers have collected more than half a million toys and more than $220,000 in donations to benefit children who find themselves in the Emergency Department at Connecticut Children’s during the holidays and throughout the year.

Children who have to visit Connecticut Children’s can be overwhelmed with the unknown. Toys collected by the State Police provide a welcome distraction to children and help encourage communication between a care provider and patient. Making a donation today helps provide smiles all year long. Sometimes a toy can be the one thing a child remembers about their visit – a memory you can create.

Brighten Tomorrow

HuskyTHON is a year-long fund-raising effort coordinated by students at the University of Connecticut, which culminates in an eighteen-hour dance marathon celebration in February. HuskyTHON is a year-long philanthropic effort at the University of Connecticut to raise funds and awareness for Connecticut Children’s, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. This effort culminates in an 18-hour dance marathon in February, where thousands of UConn students come together to dance for those who can’t. HuskyTHON is entirely student-run and their Management Team of 28 undergraduate student leaders work tirelessly to make each HuskyTHON better than the last.

From humble beginnings, HuskyTHON has grown to become the largest event in support of Connecticut Children’s. In 2019 they raised an astounding $1,328,402.19, and while UConn students are proud of this accomplishment, they are not stopping there. Their motto is “FTK” (For The Kids), and while their efforts are always evolving, their core purpose remains the same:

“Together with Connecticut Children’s, we believe in giving children the care they deserve.”

The amount raised in 2019 represents a 30% increase over HuskyTHON 2018.

HuskyTHON is one of the top 10 dance marathons in the country and is the largest Children’s Miracle Network Dance Marathon in the Northeast. In the last 20 years, HuskyTHON has raised over $6.2 million for Connecticut Children’s, making it the largest fundraiser for the hospital. For more information about HuskyTHON, please visit www.huskython.org

Connecticut Children’s is the only hospital in Connecticut dedicated exclusively to the care of children and ranked one of the best children’s hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and Women’s Choice. The Story Behind Pints for the PICU

Our daughter, Emersyn, had open heart surgery five days after she was born.

That meant we would be in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Connecticut Children’s for an unknown amount of time.

During our stay we brought a book with us, In My Heart, in the hopes that everyone who helped Emersyn on her journey would sign it and maybe leave a little message. To our surprise every doctor, nurse, and surgeon loved the idea and each took the time to write her a personal note. Some long, some short, but each one from their hearts. Those beautiful words that helped get us through Emersyn’s surgery, will one day help us explain to her what she went through and, most importantly, who her angels were.

Exactly one year to the day of her surgery we received a letter from Agnes and Kayla, two of Emersyn’s nurses from the PICU. They loved the idea of the book so much, they managed to pull some funding together and had just given their first round of In My Heart books to their current cardiac patients. And all the doctors, nurses, and surgeons signed each one.

Jason Cheshire, a grateful father

QTHON Virtual Dance Marathon @ Quinnipiac University
Apr 9 all-day

QTHON is a year-long fundraising enterprise led by Quinnipiac University students, which culminates in a 10-hour dance marathon to raise funds and awareness in support of Connecticut Children’s. However, due to the current crisis these students are bringing their event virtual this year!

Follow our Virtual Dance Marathon on Instagram!

In 2019, over 1,700 dancers raised more than $332,000. This brings the students’ eight-year cumulative giving total to more than $1 million. QTHON strives to bring together the student body and the local community to raise funds in support of valuable care that patients and their families receive at Connecticut Children’s.

In addition to the Quinnipiac students, patient families from Connecticut Children’s will attend the event and will dance the night away. They are matched with student groups and are able to dance, play games, participate in arts and crafts, and much more.
