YOU ARE INVITED TO RACE AND RAISE FUNDS
The 2020 Eversource Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon will take place from October 8 through 11 as a virtual event and includes a new 10K race distance.
Team Connecticut Children’s is proud to be the largest, official charity team participating in the *VIRTUAL* Eversource Hartford Marathon. Every year, our team has grown larger and more successful than the last. Over the past 16 years, team members have raised over $725,000 and more than $124,000 in 2019 alone! With your help we’ll keep growing, running, and supporting Connecticut Children’s.
How your participation helps Connecticut Children’s:
– All funds you raise, above and beyond your $25 registration fee, will go directly to Connecticut Children’s! This year, you will fundraise as a member of Team Connecticut Children’s through the Hartford Marathon Foundation’s registration platform.
– In addition, 100% of your $25 entry fee will go to the HMF GIVES Fund. That fund will be split proportionally amongst Team Connecticut Children’s and other Official Charity Partners, based on the total amount of fundraising done by Team Connecticut Children’s supporters compared with other Official Charity Partners. The more you raise individually, the more Connecticut Children’s can “earn back” from the HMF Gives Fund!
Team Connecticut Children’s is sponsored by
Through the financial support of HMF sponsor partners, led by Eversource, all race participants will still receive a finisher medal and long-sleeve technical shirt to commemorate their race. While the event will be virtual – meaning all participants run their race at a location of their choice – participants will receive training support materials and event experiences digitally, including race bibs, finisher certificates and custom race day playlists. Participants also have the option to submit verified results following their race and appear in race results online.

Why not set up a fundraising team?
Jamie Knotts lost her battle with a rare liver cancer at 5 1/2 months old in 2010. This race not only honors Jamie, but also the doctors, nurses and staff at Connecticut Children’s who are living angels to the children and families who are currently struggling with cancer and blood disorders.
Your participation will ensure a brighter future for children all over Connecticut, who come to Connecticut Children’s for state-of-the-art care. The race for a cure for many forms of cancer and blood disorders continues. The proceeds equally support the Cancer Clinical Trials Program, which helps to offer the latest advancements in treatment, and the Family Assistance Fund, because the last thing a parent needs to worry about when their child is diagnosed with cancer is how to pay the bills.
Extra Life is a year-round fundraising initiative that culminates in a 24-hour gaming challenge, where participants can play from the comfort of their own homes while supporting their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Last year, Extra Life raised more than $72,000 for Connecticut Children’s.
The concept of Extra Life is that people pledge their support to the gamers who play any games they wish for an allotted amount of time. Gamers can participate in video, tabletop, lawn, fantasy and other games. To encourage the most possible participation, the Extra Life program welcomes you to participate any day of the year for any amount of time, in order to raise funds to support Connecticut Children’s.
Fundraising begins on January 1, 2020 and ends on December 31, 2020.
