CJ and his father are excited to host a FUNdraising at Friendly'sFour years ago, 7-year-old Charles Joseph Gibbs IV (everyone calls him CJ) was playing on the jungle gym in his back yard, exploring the limits of his gymnastic ability, when he lost his grip and fell to the ground. Worse yet, he landed on his head. CJ was rushed to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, where he underwent extensive X-rays and hours of observation. The diagnosis was serious but not as bad as it might have been: he had a concussion.

Now 11 years old, CJ is full of life and active in the community, with a vibrant passion for theatre, dance, and cheer. CJ’s father, Charles, is grateful for the exceptional care Connecticut Children’s Medical Center provided for his son, and he wants to give back. “Connecticut Children’s Medical Center team treated not only our son but us as family from the moment we walked through their doors. We just want to do something for them.” Charles said.

As the general manager at Friendly’s 85 Seymour Street, Hartford, across from Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, he has a great way to do that: he will be hosting “A FUNraising Day” to benefit Connecticut Children’s Medical Center on Thursday, June 29 from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.. Come join the fun and meet CJ and his family.
