In April 2011, a young life was changed forever. Ian Fagan was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia just prior to his third birthday. During his three-and-a-half years of treatment, Ian was surrounded by the caring professionals at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Their compassionate care focused on the needs of Ian and his entire family. Ian navigated through numerous challenges and successfully completed cancer treatment in September 2014. He is now 9 years old and has started third grade! Ian enjoys spending time with his family, swimming and being on stage whenever possible. His true passion is the care of animals; he hopes to rescue them when he gets older.
The Back East Brewing 8 County Tap Takeover was founded by Ian’s family in gratitude for the incredible care provided to Ian during his journey with Connecticut Children’s Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders. Thanks to the generosity of Tony Karlowicz and the Back East Brewing Company, we are excited to announce that this amazing partnership will help raise awareness and further advocacy for the unending fight to find a cure for childhood cancers, including improved treatment therapies for pediatric cancer and blood disorder patients like Ian.
If you’re interested in supporting Back East Brewing’s “8 County Tap Takeover,” customers are welcome to visit the taproom Thursdays from 4 to 8 pm, Fridays from 4 to 8 pm, and Saturdays from 12 to 4 pm. Craft beer from the “8 County Tap Takeover” will be available while supplies last, with a portion of the proceeds directed to the Medical Center.
