Join us on Sunday, April 26th as we celebrate 20 years of motorcyclists making miracles for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
The first Miracle Ride was created to welcome Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, whose doors opened on April 2, 1996. The vision was to have area motorcyclists surround the new children’s hospital and essentially “give it a hug”. Since then it has grown into one of the premier rides in the area and for many it signals the start of riding season.
Over the years funds from the Ride have purchased items at Connecticut Children’s including wheelchairs, surgical equipment, monitors, and even life saving incubators for the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit).
This year’s ride will once again support the NICU and proceeds will fund the
”Angel Eyes” project.
The NICU is where the smallest and most fragile patients at the Medical Center are cared for and Miracle Ride has always had a soft spot for these babies. They are premature or born with complex medical conditions and can sometimes weigh less than a pound. Imagine how the families of these precious young patients feel when they can’t take their newborns home with them. They often feel disconnected as they miss out on loving interactions and bonding time. The Angel Eyes Project helps to ease these concerns. Through this secure, Internet based camera system, parents will be able to see their babies and even talk to them 24 hours a day.
Connecticut Children’s has 72 NICU beds and each of these camera systems cost $2,500. For each $2,500 that this year’s Miracle Ride can raise we can fund one Angel Eyes webcam.
You can help right now, by preregistering for this year’s Miracle Ride before April 20th (Preregistration coming soon!).
